Adoption Day

In early May of 2009 I saw Yogi and Smokie (affectionately called Mokie now) on the California Shar Pei rescue website. I fell in LOVE!  We had only been married for 8 months but I knew these two loveable adorable dogs would be the perfect fit for my new family.
So I called my husband asked him if we could adopt Yogi (Cream) and Smokie (Brown/Lilac).  He looked at the picture of them on the rescue website and said "of course".
I filled out the adoption application and sent it in to the owners of the rescue.  Two weeks later our background check was done and we were on our way to pick up our new kids.  I was a 4 hour trip to Redding and we had no idea where we were going.  Luckily I printed directions and had our GPS on our phones to get there.  When we arrived we met the two sweetest Shar Pei lovers in the world.  We toured the facility and made sure that we had picked the perfect doggies for us.  I knew without a doubt there were no other dogs I wanted.  So we loaded the boys in the car, paid their adoption fees and took them home.  This was the beginning of the Father and Son adventures for Yogi and Smokie.
I started this blog a while ago and thought I would write about their everyday adventures.  And let me tell you, this father and son pair had a lot of exciting times together.  Since I lost Mokie almost one year ago, I decided to finally write this blog in memory of my boys.  They were the first kids we had as a couple.  Yogi was my husband's pup and Mokie was my LOVE!

In the world of dogs, I can't say there was ever any better.  He learned how to be my service dog all on his own.  There were more times than I care to think about where he saved my life.  While I was pregnant there were times where I know he saved my life and my baby's life too.

I love you sweet boys.  This trip down memory lane will be filled with happy tears of love for the both of you.
